This week...

Have you checked out this week's show on Women Encouraging Women?  If not, then please be sure to visit http://www.womenencouragingwomen.org/

I have gotten my new laptop and am really appreciating the SSD (Solid State Drive) which is making the computer run much faster and smoother.  After having dealt with a lemon for three months straight, it is a relief to finally know the computer is going to work when you turn it out.  You often do not appreciate what you have until you do not have it.

Sunday, all of the young adults in our congregation got together for an afternoon of playing games and enjoying fellowship.  It was a very nice time, and we all enjoyed it!  Already planning to do it again soon.

Work on various ministry projects as well as my school work is all coming along very well which makes me a happy camper!  :)

A few things...

I really liked this quote from a friend's Facebook, "When a woman veils her body in MODESTY, she is not hiding herself from men. She is revealing her DIGNITY to them."

Also, I just added some of my favorite health products to our webstore. Please check them out at http://www.restorahtionfarm.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=35.

Last week's episode of Women Encouraging Women, we had Fran Cappocia on talking about healthy living.  Check out that episode at http://www.womenencouragingwomen.org/?p=193.

Book Review: Strait of Hormuz

As I excitedly ripped out the envelope containing my copy of Straight of Hormuz, I was looking forward to seeing what adventure Marc was up to in this latest novel from Davis Bunn.  Marc had always been a very likable guy with an ability to get himself into the deepest adventures and get himself back out again.  Also, I remembered one of my favorite characters from the previous book, Kitra, an Israeli Messianic Jew.  Would she be back?

Picking up the book, you open with Marc once again being sent on assignment from the U.S. State Department, but as you see the assignment, the mystery only deepens.  Is it truly money laundering and high-end art fraud?  Or is there something much deeper?

With lives at stake and the Israeli Mossad stepping in to offer clues, the mystery only deepens.  Kitra, whom I had hoped would return, is back in the volume, so what role would she play?  And would something finally happen between her and Marc?

Throughout the entire book, you are on the edge of your seat as it takes both expected and un-expected twists and turns throughout the plot.  While you are on this adventure with Marc, you also learn some deep Scriptural lessons about what truly walking by faith looks like and surrend to God's plan not my own.

I would definately encourage you to get your copy of Strait of Hormuz.  I won't spoil the ending, but I must say, I was quite happy with it!

Davis Bunn also points out some very significant insights into the Muslim world which is crucial for us to understand as believers.  When asked the below question, Davis gave a great answer.

Q: All three of the books in this series have given significant insight into the Muslim world, something critics have picked up on. What experience do you have with this region?

Davis Bunn: For the four years prior to moving to Germany, I lived and worked in the Middle East. I was the only non-Muslim in the management structure of a family-owned company. They had three major arms: construction equipment, shipping, and pharmaceuticals. I rose to become Marketing Manager of the pharmaceutical division.

One of the requirements of this job was to take instruction in the Koran and Islamic history from an imam who taught at the local university. I think this experience played a major role in my coming to Christ.

Computer, WEW, and More!

Well, good and bad news on my computer. The bad news is that it is finally declared a lemon. The good news is that means I will get a financial re-imbursement. I have ordered my new computer and should have it a couple of weeks. Since I use this for all my ministry work, I needed to upgrade a few technical features on the computer. I also had to upgrade some of the software due to a newer operating system. As a result, I ended up spending about $1,000 to get the new computer and software. If you feel led to help my ministry purchase the computer making up the financial differnce, please check out the ministry donation page -  http://standinginyhvhshand.org/donate.htm.

This week on Women Encouraging Women, Melanee and I interviewed Tricia Leu, author of Love Awakened.  Please check out the show at www.womenencouragingwomen.org.

I also finished my aromatherapy course! Only 6 more courses to go and then my doctrinal thesis...and I'm done with my degree as a Naturopathic Doctor!

Finally a fun picture...
